The Gambling Commission’s statutory framework requires it to achieve a balance between regulatory requirements to reduce harm and giving players choice over how to spend their leisure time. At RGSB, we provide key advice to the Commission on how best to achieve that balance through a national responsible gambling strategy. To deliver the strategy, we work with and influence a diverse range of stakeholders and organisations including regulators, the Government, operators and public health bodies. We are now seeking Board members who can bring the expertise and credibility to help us achieve this. As such, this represents a unique opportunity to make a real difference on a key matter of public policy. While you will need expertise in one or more of the following areas, you do not need experience of gambling. What’s important is that you have relevant knowledge that is transferable to our work.
- Online/digital commerce
- Children and young people
- Consumer protection.
Actively contributing to Board meetings held six times a year (usually in London), members’ time commitment is, on average, two days a month – though there is scope to do more. Your remuneration will be £270 per day, plus payment of reasonable travel and subsistence expenses.
